Isabel Sorebo

Co-Founder and Executive Director

Isabel Sorebo is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Boston MetroWest Strings, a new nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to string education for under-resourced students in the Greater Boston area. Originally from Wisconsin, she began studying violin at age four and maintains an active teaching and performing presence throughout New England.

In addition to her work as a performer and educator, Isabel has expanded her training into arts leadership and nonprofit management through Boston University’s Summer Arts Management Institute, as well as additional graduate-level coursework in arts marketing. She is currently pursuing a Financial Planning & Analysis certification through the Corporate Finance Institute, reflecting her growing interest in the intersection of the arts and financial strategy.

In 2024, Isabel served as Chamber Music Coordinator at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where she facilitated student performances and masterclasses with artists including Augustin Hadelich, Inon Barnatan, the American String Quartet, the American Brass Quintet, and the Takács Quartet.

As a performer, Isabel has appeared across the United States and Europe, including performances at Symphony Hall in Boston and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. She has performed with ensembles such as the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra, Sheboygan Symphony, Weidner Philharmonic, Manitowoc Symphony, and Boston University Symphony Orchestra, among others, and has held roles as concertmaster, associate concertmaster, and section player on both violin and viola. A dedicated chamber musician, she has performed as a violinist and violist in ensembles including the Titan String Quartet and Trio, and has collaborated with the Colombian, five-time Latin Grammy–nominated Giovanni Parra Quintet.

In addition to her private teaching, Isabel has served as a sectional coach and guest performer with ensembles at Brandeis University and Wellesley College.

Isabel has worked closely with esteemed musicians including Bayla Keyes, Lynn Chang, Yuliya Smead, Julia Glenn, YooJin Jang, Grigory Kalinovsky, Steven Ansell, Lucia Lin, and Peter Zazofsky. She has participated in festivals including the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, The Clearing, and Birch Creek Music Festival, and has been featured in chamber workshops and performances at Boston University.

She holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from Boston University and Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Violin Performance from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, along with a Wisconsin Professional Educator License (K–12). During her undergraduate studies, she won the 2020 UWO Concerto Competition, received two Honors Recitalist Awards, and earned an Outstanding Undergraduate Research and Creativity Award for her collaborative performance of Eric Whitacre’s Five Hebrew Love Songs.
