Teach with BMWS
Why teach with us?
Teaching with Boston MetroWest Strings offers the opportunity to work closely with young students while helping bring high-quality string education to a community with limited access. You’ll be encouraged to bring your own creative ideas into your teaching, shaping a meaningful and engaging experience for your students. Beyond lessons, you’ll build relationships with families and community members, becoming part of something larger than just instruction. Through thoughtful, intentional teaching, you’ll have the ability to support each student’s growth and make a lasting impact through music!
About the Program
Our program serves young children ages 5–8, most of whom are beginners, with occasional students who may have some prior experience. Lessons are currently offered in small group violin classes of 4–5 students, with parents present to provide additional support and help create a positive learning environment. While we are working to expand into local community spaces, classes are currently held in a residential home in Ashland with ample space for instruction. Each 40-minute session is thoughtfully structured to support focus, listening, and social development, while introducing instrument fundamentals through engaging activities that incorporate music and movement.
